Invitation to a Civic Forum
You're invited to take part in a civic forum sponsored by 4KIDsNEEDs to generate information to help write a new Guide, "What to Expect When Your Child Has a Special Need: The First Year", for the parents of children with chronic conditions.
The event will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM at WHYY Headquarters - Independence Mall West, 150 N. 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Click here to register online.
The purpose of the Guide will be to support families of children with special needs by orienting them to the resources, programs and support services available to them in the Philadelphia 5-county region. It will also provide basic advice and guidance on managing their child’s need from the viewpoint of doctors, nurses, care managers, and other parents.
The areas to be included but not limited to in the guide are as follows: insurance eligibility, waivers, programs (health, social and educational), plans, resources, early intervention, education, self-care, compliance, siblings/family interaction, support services, screenings, immunizations, and transportation…a guide to daily, life planning.
