What We Do
4KIDsNEEDS provides an opportunity for the entire family and their friends to engage in the management and further prevention of the child's chronic illness.
Our Programs and Services:
Support groups and forums for parents/caretakers on a bi-monthly basis at a community center. Programs on topics ranging from health and wellness issues to dating will be presented by Psychologist Miriam Franco.
Parents Nights Out will offer an opportunity for parents to socialize and take part in an educational discussion based upon the selected topic
4KIDsNEEDS activity programs will be scheduled for three times during the year. The child and their sibling(s) will be able to participate in an activity promoting a healthy lifestyle. These activities will be nutrition (cooking) and exercise (i.e. basketball, baseball) based with a life skill built into the activity concept. A psycho/educational meeting will take place at each event targeting a specific life skill. Currently we have a tennis program at Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education in Philadelphia.
Community outreach via schools/hospitals/doctors, for youths and their families with re: to living and coping with a chronic illness. This will include healthy lifestyle topics and health fairs that include educating other children about their friend’s chronic illnesses and how to be sensitive to their needs.
Partnering with community and other disease specific health organizations. We hope to use the partnerships as an outreach and social network to assist our constituents in the community.
Prevention programs and forums will be implemented to identify early detection of chronic illness in association with pediatricians and hospitals.
Financial support through grants and financial literacy for youth and families to plan and prepare for now and the future.
